Grown on the Farm

Vegetables

Using integrated pest management, I grow all vegetables without the use of pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides. Most of the farm’s vegetables are grown using certified organic open-pollinated and/or heirloom seed varieties. I grow a variety of greens, lettuces, root vegetables, squash, legumes, nightshade (tomato) family crops from April to December.

Spray-Free Flowers

Unlike the fresh flower bouquets you find in the grocery store or from many other farms, my in-season bouquets are 100% free of pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides. They are safe to sniff, touch, & compost at the end of their life. From April to October we feature fresh flower bouquets at the Lewiston Artisan Farmers Market – a way for you to witness the change in the season through the change in the blossoms featured in our bouquets. Many of the classes I teach also feature working with spray-free blooms from the farm.

Microgreens

All year round, I grow mircogreens in our indoor germination chamber. The farm’s microgreens are grown in OMRI (organic) Certified potting mix & from organic seed. Microgreen varieties grown on the farm include spicy mix, power mix, sunflower, and pea shoots. Learn more about microgreens on our blog.

Herbs & Edible Flowers

I grow a variety of herbs from April to December to elevate your cooking. Fresh herbs can be used in cooked dishes, added to salads, made into tea, frozen, or dried for your personal use. All of the herbs & edible flowers are grown without the use of pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides. Herbs include chives, sage, thyme, rosemary, parsley, basil, & mint.

No-Spray Fruit

With each passing season, I’m finding ways to incorporate & grow more spray-free fruit. Fruit is often the most pesticide-laden of crops, so being able to offer spray-free & heirloom fruit is something I take great pride in. I currently offer rhubarb, heirloom apples, and raspberries. In the future I hope to offer strawberries, blackberries, currants, gooseberries, plums, & pears as the farm’s orchard matures.

No-Spray Nuts

With each passing season, I’m finding ways to incorporate & grow more spray-free nuts. Nuts are some of the most protein-rich crops & even though we are in zone 6, multiple nut varieties can be grown. Nuts are often the most pesticide-laden of crops, so being able to offer spray-free & heirloom nuts is something I take great pride in. I currently offer English (Persian) Walnuts. In the future I hope to offer hazelnuts, northern hardy pecans, & chestnut as the farm’s orchard matures.
